A Very Fleshlumps Christmas was first conceived and performed by Willow Giannotti-Garlinghouse (a.k.a. "Lucite") and Ray Dondero (a.k.a. "Lilith") in December 2023. A puppetry-meets-drag-meets-burlesque-meets-cooking show extravaganza that feels like if John Waters, David Lynch, and Jack Smith hijacked a Fanny Cradock Christmas special, A Very Fleshlumps Christmas has since been performed on an annual basis in various venues around New York City during the holiday season.
This film, shot on Super 8mm Kodak color negative stock, captures part of the rehearsal process and performance of the second staging of A Very Fleshlumps Christmas, which occurred at the Jalopy Theater & School of Music in Red Hook, Brooklyn, NY, on December 12, 2024.
Featuring music by The Dreamliners ("White Christmas," 1963) and Brenda Lee ("Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," 1958). Super 8mm film processed and scanned at Negativeland (Queens, NY). Special thanks to Robert Schneider.
