About
The film explores continuity of time in two levels of work. The first of these is the simple domestic task of washing dishes, and the second is the aesthetic task of filming the first task. I, the film-maker, am the only protagonist in both acts, controlling the two cameras which record the action. Audiences should be warned that the film contains scenes which might outrage sensitive viewers–I do not rinse the dishes after washing. This is not an uncommon practice in England, where the waste of hot water might cause more consternation than a thin film of detergent. Food does not taste of soap when eaten off the unrinsed dishes... the film has nothing to do with this problem (I think). –M. L. G.
