Screening
Presented by Priyanka Das and ABC No Rio in Exile, in collaboration with the Film-Makers' Cooperative, as part of "Summer School: Art, Education & Radical Resistance." Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21, 11:00am to 1:00pm EST; Sunday, August 27, 11:00am to 2:00pm EST. NOTE: Videos related to this screening will be presented in PS122 Gallery on Saturday, July 23, 1:00pm to 5:00pm, and on Sunday, August 14, 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
In these trans-disciplinary/interactive workshops, we will delve deeper into understanding what it means to experience our surroundings with our senses, and somatic beyond and creates from that practice. This three-day workshop series will focus on challenging hegemonic art-making practices by utilizing our body as a primary resource of our creativity, art practice, and activism.
In this series of intensive workshops, we will collectively cover the concept/idea of “Writing with Our Body” and how it can be interchangeable and subjective based on the subject and the environment they are placed in, and how to integrate this concept into our art practices.
At the end of our three-day workshop, we will showcase/present the work that was created during the workshop period in collaboration with other workshop attendees. Through this process of creation, we will specifically emphasize how to use basic tools and readily available resources to turn our daily experiences into a work of art.

Priyanka Das was born in India and currently lives and works in New York City. She is a trans-disciplinary artist, filmmaker, writer, earth-mother, and curator. Her works aim to ignite thoughts, feelings, and emotions that delve deep into the essence of “otherness” mediated by somatic, psychic, and cerebral intimate lived experiences and historic collective moments, memory, and imagination. Her works penetrate our daily lived experiences to re-familiarize us with our immediate surroundings and beyond.
