Biography
Noa Blanche Beschorner (b. 2002, Germany) is a filmmaker and programmer based in Montréal (Tiohtià:ke). Working primarily with analog film, her practice draws on structuralist approaches and close observation. Her films examine how social practices shape urban space, attending to everyday gestures, folklore, and language. She also documents the practices of fellow artists, approaching filmmaking as a way of engaging with contemporary artistic production and its histories.
She holds a BFA from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema at Concordia University and works as general coordinator and programmer at la lumière collective, an independent space dedicated to the exhibition and dissemination of experimental cinema in Montréal.
Her films are distributed by Winnipeg Film Group and The Film-Makers’ Cooperative. They have screened at the Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM), Les Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma, WNDX Festival of Moving Image and Gimme Some Truth (Winnipeg), Future of Film Showcase (Toronto), Docs de Noirmoutier (France), Wide Open Experimental Film Festival (United States), and Fluxus Experimental Film Festival (Hamilton).
