Herb Kline was a pioneering documentary filmmaker known for his documentation of the European points of crisis in the thirties and forties. He was blacklisted by the House Committee on Un-American Activities, and did not return to filmmaking until he made Walls of Fire, a piece on Diego Rivera, in the seventies.
