Biography
Abinadi Meza is a Latinx-Indigenous (Otomí - México) artist, filmmaker, and composer. Trained in painting and architectural theory, Meza configures the moving image as a site of physical and acoustic contact. His non-narrative elemental cinema treats the 16mm substrate as a material document, employing hand-layered processes and vibrational sound masses to produce intense chromatic depth and luminous transparency. Meza develops integrated compositions where sound and image unfold as a single, resonant body, generating a dimensional, atmospheric architecture.
Meza is a Fellow of the American Academy in Rome (FAAR). Across three decades of sustained practice, his work has been presented at the Walker Art Center, MAXXI National Museum of 21st Century Arts, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, Anthology Film Archives, Cineteca Nacional de México, and specialized experimental venues including Crossroads, Kassel Dokfest, Analogica, Harkat 16mm, and Other Cinema.
