Snow2025

Over the phone, my mother reads and explains the inspiration behind the poem, “Snow”, written by her late sister, Cheng Sait Chia. Posthumously, Chia has been called “a leading light” by The Globe and Mail and “a lost Canadian poet” by Arc Poetry.

As she speaks, family stories spill out illustrating our messy immigration path from Singapore to China to Canada. The result is an intimate glimpse into how a splintered family can still connect over the idea of snow.
