About

"... a filmic story, conceived as a series of images which evoke the awareness of horror one feels at a degeneration. The story hardly exists in a verbal equivalent. "Two young people destroy one another, yet no blood is shed. The actions are apparently simple, obvious, and effortless. There has been an avoidance of obvious or heavy symbolism. "The scenes are very nearly real time. In 25 minutes of film a man is reduced to the status of a dependent infant. The film is a comment on the American scene. Filmed by a film-maker with the most econmical photographic means as a comment on his contemporaries. The camera was faithfully used, to paraphrase Minor White, to see the actions envisioned by the creator of the film as with the apparent innocence of a bystander. The 'person' of the camera is scrupulously maintained... with the exception of 5 or 6 lap dissolves, the editing was planned as a series of straight cuts."–From the program, Third International Experimenatl Film Competition, Knokke-Le Zoute, Belgium, 1964
