An Introduction to Screenings, Festivals, and Grants for the Experimental Filmmaker

Back by popular demand! Join us at The Film-Makers' Cooperative (475 Park Avenue South, 6th Floor) on SATURDAY, AUGUST 1st from 11am-2pm for a workshop seminar on screenings, festivals, and grant opportunities for both established and emerging experimental filmmakers, hosted by Joel Schlemowitz.

You’ve made a film. Now what? This workshop will survey the opportunities for the emerging experimental filmmaker, discussing film festivals, venues, grants, distribution, residencies, and artist labs. Topics to be covered in detail will include: how to select film festivals to send work, DIY film screenings, tips for effective grant writing and navigating the application process, the paradigm of alternative and non-exclusive distribution through Coops and other artist-run organizations, residency and film workshop opportunities. Workshop participants will be provided with a resource list of experimental-friendly film festivals, venues, distributors, etc.

Three-hour workshop. 11am to 2pm.
