Mary Trunk is a multi-media artist formerly based in Altadena, California, and now working in Los Angeles. For over thirty years, she has created documentaries, dance films, experimental hybrids, and site-specific installations that explore the shifting terrain of memory, story, and personal history. Her films delve into themes such as family, motherhood and art, the aging of dancers, meditation in prisons, architecture, and the creative process.

Her experimental videos and screendances transform overlooked details of daily life—gestures, spaces, relationships—into layered and dramatic expressions of the ordinary. Her work has been presented internationally at festivals, museums, universities, and outdoor venues. Mary is an Assistant Professor in the Film Department at Mount Saint Mary’s University and the Dance Department at Loyola Marymount University.
