In this video I bake red bread which represents my father’s dead and dying body. Then petrify it with caulking. An experimental lecture about loss and opacity scrolls below. I created this film for a three channel installation in Belgrade, Serbia. The installation was covered in Kilims, a deep-rooted signifier of the everyday in The Middle East and the Balkans. I was exploring war in both regions as they intersect. The structure of the installation was made of chip wood with a black contè crayon drawing, and was based on a collapsed bridge from Mexico City during the Pueblo Earthquake.
